I don't know the name of the graphics card. When I go to control panel, device manager it just says standard vga graphics adapter, but further the list I have a yellow box with an exclamation mark in it beside video controller. When I try to update driver it says windows was unable to install video controller. When I go to the properties it says code 28 click to update.

You need the Vaio Driver downloads, but all I can find are these. No details of what's included, suggest you download them all as they are relevant to your model and hope there's an updated GPU driver amongst them.

Did you upgrade to 7 Ultimate or use the Restore facility on your HDD?
