The fact that the files are for the older palm does not matter.

I don't know why you can't use those files from your m100.

I have a t3, and for about 7 months I did use G2 (I like the punuations, and
the middle auto-shift for letters).

However, the T, the I and the K were just killing my speed (I am a long time
g1 user also).

So, about 3 weeks about I decided to try g1 on my T3. Hum, I really like it.

If you use the 3rd option for the graffiti area, then you sill get the
middle shift. Also, the on-screen anywhere stuff works just great.

Hum, after having not used g1 for about 7 months, I found switching from g2
was easy. (and, to be fair..I find g1 faster...but do miss a few of the nice
things in g2).

I had a palm iiix, but simply searching on the web it took me only a few
minutes..and I found download (saved me the trouble of finding some
batteries and powering up my iiix).
