I just can't figure out what the purple thing is for. I am talking about that piece of plastic to the left of the bottem drive cage and next to the bottem intake fan.
Was a time when expansion cards were very large compared to now. They would stretch the entire distance front to back of the old desktop AT cases. Get your hands on an original IBM-XT hard disk controller or video card, you'll see what I mean. The back (or is it front?) of those cards needed support so card cages were added as standard to all cases and they've been hanging around ever since.
Very interesting... now can you also tell me what those white things on the bottom of the inside of the case are? I worked with such a case once and I couldn't figure out what use they had.
My dual-PSU PC is so powerfull that the neighbourhood dims when I turn it on
Cam's correct. They snap (or screw) to the sides of the drives for easy addition/removal of your drives. They are on the bottom of the case for "storage" until you need them. When you need to add a new drive, slide two out, slap them on the sides of your drive and they slide right into the bay and "Click" in place.
It's an excellent case. It's got a few cons, and they're pretty much down to preference:
Heavy.
No filter on the side intake fan.
Small reset button
Screws on the side panel, in spite of the locking mechanism.
Provides 5 80mm case fan mountings, but only 3 fans.
With the exception of points 2 and 5 those are pretty lame complaints.
