HELP!! SYSTEM restarts everytime

help!!

this is my computer specs
ASUS A7M266 Motherboard
AMD Thunderbird @ 1.4 GHZ
Coolermaster AMD fan
256MB PC2100 DDR ram (kingston)
PNY Verto GeForce 4 Ti4200 64mb
Linksys 10/100 LAN card
Linksys BEFW11S4 wireless router
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy
Maxtor ATA 133 controller card
Pioneer DVD-116 DVD-Rom @ 16x
Yamaha CRW2100E @ 16x10x40
Maxtor Diamondmax 9 plus HDD @ 80GB 7200RPM 2Mb cache
Adaptic USB 2.0 PCI card
no-name 300W power-supply

for some reason when i turn on my computer when it goes to the boot screen on windows XP it would suddenly show up a BSOD for like a microsecond then restarts my computer then it would work again. What's causing this
help quick plz

what's the temp of your CPU. Also if you can get ahold of another set of ram, try switching it out

my cpu is at about 40C all the time but since it's a T-Bird i think it's stanard

i don't have another stick to try out with but can anyone tell what's that program that can test if my ram is bad or not????

It sounds like it's encountering a problem with the registry, loading an older version of the registry, and rebooting off that. Have you loaded a new driver recently?

no i haven't been installing new drivers lately.... it started acting weird ever since i installed those patches from windows update......... also another problem is that sometimes when i try to open any program the computer say it encounter a error and closes it but if i restart it's back to normal really weird guess it's time to use the ultimate weapon ..... REFORMAT
