I might not be asking this the right way, but let me try to elaborate.
I have a W7 64 bit PC with an ATI Radeon HD 5570 video card. I have my monitor connected and I have a flatscreen TV that is connected to the video card through an HDMI cable.

When I want to watch content through my PC on my flatscreen I have to go into Control Panel/Display and manually change the setting to dual display. Is there not a way to automatically send the signal without having to get into the Control Panel?

I know its not a big deal, but I'm running XBMC and I have to make it wife convenient and as it stands now, it isnt very convenient.

I have a similar setup and before i added a third screen, i just used a close view due to both my TV and Monitor were 1920 x 1080 resolution.

If you computer monitor and TV use the same resolution you may want to just close the displays. This only works if you have a widescreen monitor with a 16:9 resolution as a 16:10 resolution will not look that great.
