We have 3 computers, all are mostly custom (non proprietary). one has corsair another has kingston and kingmax, the other has crucial and an unknown. When i upgrade any of them i want to get better quality over more space.
My question is what brand should i get and is it worth getting the fast pc3200, or should i stick to pc2700, 2100?

As far as quality goes, I always go Samsung- I just ordered 512 PC2100 - nice price drop from 2700

It really depends on whether you plan to overclock your system or not, and also on whether your mobo supports the fast memory.

Agreed... Samsung is alright but I've had problems in the past with mixing modules with samsung ram.. typically system instabilities. Corsair ram is undoubtably the best quality. Kingmax should be avoided. If you want to save money try crucial.

As far as getting high speed ram. It's only usefull if you plan to overclock your system...

I'm running samsung pc333 ram myself and I'm happy with it. Like the others said, if you plan to overclock, then you should get higher quality ram that can better handle the stresses of overclocking. However, you should first make sure your motherboard supports the faster ram. It would be a waste of money to get DDR333 ram and find out later your chipset doesnt support it.

Crucial is good ram at a price. I didn't mean above to suggest that Samsung is not good, infact they are one of the leading mnf's of server ram and large modules like 4 gig dimms... only meant to say that I have experienced problems in the past whereas crucial and corsair are solid choices.

Perhaps I should clarify here.

Corsair uses major brand modules. The only difference between them and other brands is they test the modules rigorously to see if they perform. Then they categorize the module.

Corsair doesn't actually manufacture anything. Look it up. The same goes for XTremeDDR. They use pre-tested Samsung modules as well.

MSI GF3 Ti500 w/64MB DDR

I have Mushkin DDR266 on my Soyo Dragon +, running at CL2. I've always had good luck with Mushkin. Corsair is reputed to be very good. I've also had good luck with Kingston, though Kingston is not the overclockers' fave.
