Both my usb cdrom and ide cdrom stopped working after I installed a Soho firewire card. I get a "!" @ the cdroms in Device Manager, and a message saying:

"Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)"

If I remove the card, the cdroms works fine again. I'm running WinXP (fully patched), AK31 v3.1 motherboard, GF4, athlon 1.2ghz, etc etc.

I don't see any abnormal IRQ shares, and I only have 1 pci card installed (the firewire card)

Any ideas???

Register or log in to remove.

If there are no IRQ conflicts then it could be some weird driver issue. Maybe you can find a newer driver version for that card on internet.

If that doesn't work delete the CDROM drives from the Device Manager and let WinXP redetect them at reboot.

My dual-PSU PC is so powerfull that the neighbourhood dims when I turn it on

I would also try to install the card to different slot.

Thanks for the suggestions, this is what I had to do to correct the problem:
