I want to start recording music on my PC. I'm going for instruments
(guitar, bass, keys) with maybe synth drums - nothing fancy or over the
top. I might get into MIDI, but not at first.

I'm looking at these Tascam products and am not sure which would be
best for me. I don't know if I need all the faders on the 248, but
think it's best to buy more than I need rather than have to upgrade a
year from now. Can anyone give me thumbs up/down on these and tell me
if one of these is easiest to use? Is there another
product/manufacturer out there with similar price point, but
better/easier to use?
Thx
Frank

I got a 224 for Xmas. I like the faders for mixing, and the jog-dial
for locating a point, but it really hasn't come close to taking the
place of my keyboard. It's a good tool, especially if you hate using
the mouse with faders.

My US-224 passes a lot of noise from the power supply when connected
to a either a desktop or a laptop. It's quiet when listening to
headphones but the line outs are noisey. If you Y the headphone out to
a mixer the noise is back again. The laptop on a battery has no noise
anywhere. The 224 gives about 12ms latency and works with Gigasampler.
Good luck, s.
