My Plextor isn't copying music to CDs correctly. When you play the CDs they skip. The data CDs don't seem to give me any problem. Is my drive wearing out or is there some way to correct this?

The solution may be obvious, but I can't see it for the smoke coming off my processor.

are you burning cd to cdrw directly?
Try burning an image to the HD first and then burn to the disk. Yes it takes longer but not all cd drives work well when burning, especially if they're on the same ide channel. (at least not for me)
ive had no problems making image on HD then burning to CD. (only have one cdrw drive anyways)
If it still skips then try lowering the write speed down a notch.

also are you converting from .mp3 to cda on the fly? if so it could be a resource issue, close any open programs, and disable your virus scanner when you burn, this might help.

And what are you using to play the CD's... the computer or some other cd player? some cd players dont like certain media types, particularly the green dye cd's.
