This game plays really jerky. :/ Not smooth at all.

I have bought this on the Xbox for the last 2 years and hate it.
It has the worst camera system in the history of basketball games.
It looks great at 720p, too bad the camera is so far back, you can't
appreciate it.
And the brick wall defense is the same as it was back on the Dreamcast.

Are you saying that you bought 2K5?

It doesn't sound as if you did. This year, the camera is not like last
year's long range camera. As for the defense, maybe a little practice would
help. I find defense in the game challenging but not impenetrable.

I like the game-- big improvement from last year's game.

Be warned that this year's version doesn't support 720p and looks like ass
on HD sets in 480p (compared to ESPN Football or Hockey, anyway).

Nope, I didn't buy it this year yet. I was just saying I bought it the last
2 years and have regretted it.
Now that I know it doesn't support 720p, I wouldn't buy it for $10.
Nice to know they finally tried fixing the horrible camera.

Even worse though, EA's NBA Live 2005 isn't even widescreen. :(

4:3/480p only.

At least 2k5 is widescreen 480p, right?

I can understand why some might be concerned about this, but for me it's
gameplay first and looks after that.

The game looks fine enough to me. I have an HDTV upstairs and use just a
S-V hook-up downstairs, where I mostly play my XBox.

Right now I'm tweaking the sliders and trying to at least get more AI
three-pointers. Even also with 8 minute quarters my scores are way too
low-- last game was a 61-50 win using the Cavs against the 76ers. This is
on Pro/Simulation. I'll have to see how easy or difficult pro is before I
decide to move up a level.

So far pro looks to be too easy.

If anyone has some decent sliders that gives a decent game, post here
please. I've been to OS and there's not much there. Generally, though, I'm
learning to stay away from reading anything about a game until after I play
the game myself (except for respectable, knowledgeable reviewers), and even
after that I don't read what people have to say. There's always so much
complaining about games that I just try and stay away from reading the
posts. And when I say complaining, I mean stuff that is either not true
about a game or something that matters little.

So it goes.

I'm really enjoying it so far.

This year's version is much closer to "real basketball" out of the box
than the past several seasons. I always play CPU vs. CPU until I can
get the computer to play a good realistic game of basketball, then I
jump in and change the human sliders to compensate for my (lack of)
skills. Some slider changes are still needed (sagging D maxed out makes
a big difference as well as the reduction of the blocking / steals
attributes), and I'm already seeing the correct field goal percentages,
a good variety of shots (CPU taking between 6-15 3 pointers per game)
and not too many points in the paint (approx 40% vs. 75% last year).
Mind you I only have 4-5 games tested so far but so far I'm really
enjoying it.

The next test I need to do is play some games with a dominating center
and see how that changes things. I have been playing the Raptors and
noticed that their 2 top players (Carter and Rose, SG & SF) do get the
majority of plays / touches from the CPU, is this the same for post
positions? One of the biggest flaws in some past versions is that there
have always been preferred positions, and if that season your top
players aren't in the preferred positions, they will never get enough
touches regardless of what coaching settings you pick.

The new additions in franchise mode + the Full Authority are really good
editions. Full Authority is a good way to play the majority of your
games while still retaining control over who gets the most touches /
shots.

I just rented NBA Live on the PS2 (if I buy, it will be Xbox) and the
graphics looked horrible.
I could have sworn there was a widescreen option in Live 2003 (my last
version I owned) but I couldn't find it in 2005.
