Can I uninstall Microsoft Home and Student without damaging Word? If so, how?

I would like to free up some space on my computer. I had a trial of Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 but never used it. When I try to uninstall it the computer will not.

1. Is it safe to uninstall this program? I am concerned it will damage Word which I do use.
2. How can I uninstall it in some other way?

1. Word is part of Office so it will damage it.
2. You can uninstall all but Word by selecting Change from the Add Remove Programs box after clicking on Office. Then remove the ticks next to all the bits you don't want apart from Word.
