Enjoying NHL 2005

I've been a bit skiddish (or is it skittish?) of EA's NHL series for
the last few years. Seems they had gotten a rap for being too easy and
had followed it up with ridiculously hard games to make up for it. To
me, the game had lost it's fun and had become more of a chore to get
through. I was thoroughly UNimpressed with last season's entry, NHL
2004. Not only did I find it too tough to get through a game on medium
level but the menus just didn't seem very well thought out.
So, I borrowed NHL 2005 from a friend so I could make an informed
decision before wasting my money. I tell you what - I'm really
enjoying the game this year. Matter of fact, I haven't enjoyed an
offering from EA's NHL series this much in a number of years.
I started my season off as the Pittsburgh Penguins and lost or tied
the first several games but I'm starting to get the hang of it and
have evened eventhing out with a record of 4-4-4.
The menus are fairly intuitive and a lot like the menus in Madden
2005, so it looks like EA is striving for consistency across it's
games. A very welcome addition to this season is something that might
be fairly small to most players, but I love having the calendar view
in season mode. In NHL 2004, the only way to have a calendar view, if
memory serves me correctly, was in Dynasty mode.
Now I have my calendar in season mode and I can see the upcoming games
at a glance.
I'm hoping that with no *REAL* NHL hockey this year, EA will drop the
price from $40 to $20 on NHL 2005. At that price, it would be a
bargain.

Is there color commentary in NHL 2005? I heard that it wasn't in NHL2004, so I want to know if it
is in this one before I buy it.

Not sure what "color commentary" is, technically, but there IS
commentary, and play-by-play... But that's been there since '94 (the
original EA NHL) and was included in last year's version as well.

Color commentary is kinda like the 'funny' stuff. But, thanks, I just wanted to check.

EA should hire Don Cherry to add some commentary. Things like; only
europeans and frenchies wear visors.
