Long SAVE times in Audition using XP

I'm used to it taking like 18 minutes to save 12 32/44 channels of say 45
minutes worth of recording. This is on a fairly fast system with multiple
hard drives.

Usually, when a save sticks, there's a problem with the system, like a bad
hard drive.

I've also seen situations where Audition hangs for several minutes after a
long save.

It is possible to make a multitrack save in Audion be mostly a hands off
affair. What you do is record a few seconds in advance, rewind and and then
save the files. This takes one prompt per channel, but the prompts come in
quick sucession. Then, when you do the save at the end, each overlay of an
existing file takes place without an addtiional prompt.

Sometimes Windows System Restore will take a Restore Point on significant
file changes (like a delete) so you might be triggering XP into taking a
restore when you do the save (especially if it causes files to be removed).
