I started using this program about 2 years ago. I started with logic rpc, a
stripped down version and now use the platinum version. well worth the
upgrade.

however, I did not know a long time ago how to name the wav files when
starting a new project. Also, I was pressing cntrl-z to "undo" recordings,
which does not delete them from disk. As well as I was not making folders
for recording them into. Needless to say I have a bunch of files ranging
from Audio1.wav-Audio3045.wav

I've slightly experimented with the environment and such setting and found a
wav browser, if you will, which shows all the files associated with a
project, that you have open. Is there an easy way to successfully move
those files to a different folder, so i can open all the projects I have,
move the wav files to be safe to a new matching directory with that song
name, and then eventually delete the partials that I no longer need? There's
plenty o' 3-4 minute tracks wasting space because of this.

Also, I once experimented with trying to import mixer/environment settings
from one song to another. I forgot how, but whatever I did copied all 24
tracks mixer settings, when all I usually need is 4-8 channels for
drums(usually my drum tracks are the first ones too), and sometimes the
guitar, bass and vocals are all on different tracks and won't match up. I
know I probably should have a system for these things when starting with a
new artist, and I am very knowledgeable working in windows so any
suggestions can talk about things (moving files, folders, creating, etc)
outside of the logic program. I'm sure some of this stuff is in the manual
and help files, but I've figured almost everything out that I know so far
without the help files and am just looking for some quick suggestions.
Thanks in advance.

-Paul

I think you have overlooked a lot of features Logic offers for file
management, which is understandable given the gawdawful "documentation"
provided with v. 5. It's a little better with v. 6 (I've not "upgarded
to v. 7, and probably won't) but I'd still recommend Orren Merton's
_Logic Power_. Post you questions into the LUG:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/logic-users/

If your problem were my problem I could solve it, but if I tried to
explain to you how to do it we'd both be here for weeks and you'd get
seriously confused. Logic is amazing on the one hand, and almost
completely illogical on the other.

You might think you want "quick suggestions" and you may think you have
been figuring it out just by poking around, but that is how you got into
this mess in the first place. You have now created a situation where you
are going to have to bite the bullet and dig into how it actually works,
if you want to get any real work done with Logic.

I've only used 'Move Files' a couple times (and never on a large scale), so you
might want to ask in the LUG for potential gotchas. That said...

Back everything up. At least twice, if you really care. Then:

open a song
Audio > Audio Window
Edit > Select All
Audio File > MOVE FILES
etc...

Also, read Hank's post again.

Best of luck,
-Brian
