Geez, I can't believe this! Not wanting to ask in the most logical
place to get information because you're afraid of attracting interest? Thnk
that maybe you'd have to pay what it's worth if anyone knew you were
interested in it? It's an auction. Bid what it's worth to you, not what it's
worth to someone else.
I have a brochure on the 40 series with no date, so I can't tell you
the age. I'd guess it's roughly 10 years old since it's later than my
1992 catalog.
It's 2-track, 7.5/15 ips, takes 10-1/2" reels. The 42 has a pair of
mic inputs (not phantom powered) as well as line inputs. Inputs and
outputs are on XLR and RCA connectors, +4 dBu and -10 dBV nominal
operating levels respectively. It weighs 71 pounds. No built-in noise
reduction. Specs are typical of professonal analog recorders of the
day, which means that if you're accustomed to digital, you'd better
not read the numbers.
