If you're thinking about a CD burner, I would suggest the 40x from LITEON.
I just purchased their 52X burner.

CD-ROM drives are cheap, and any major name-brand drives will work fine. To get the best of both worlds, have you consider LiteOn DVD-ROM drives? They are cheap, fast and good too.
