Just received my 52x24x52xCD Burner from LiteOn.
I was wondering if any of you have this model, could you give me some tips to make it perform @ optimal level, I'd greatly appreciate any advice/info.
I just got done installing it, one thing I noticed right away is that the audio CD I placed in it tends to skip alot during play.
I'm going to try to clean the Audio CD, maybe it's just that, but the CD plays fine on my stero cd player.
It's going tot ake me a while to learn how to use the Nero 5.5 program, since I never have ripped/copy/burned CDs before.
Once again, any tips will be great.
I have WIN98,so when you say enable DMA in Windows, do you mean by right clicking on MY HARDDRIVES->Properties->Device MANAGER->HIGHLIGHT CDROM->PROPERTIES->SETTINGS->& then checking the box next to DMA?
If that's what you meant, then the answer is NO I haven't, but will right now.
Thanks for responding.
good good. DMA is very important.
And so is using decent quality media.
Also, if 52x burns seem too loud, consider burning at 48x. Burn times are only 5-10 seconds slower but with alot less noise and vibration.
IMHO, 52x and 54x burners are of no real benefit compared to 48x burners.
Paying for Sex didn’t mean you couldn’t get it any other way – it meant that you could afford the convenience option, same as any other service.
LHG thanks for the info, appreciate it.
I haven't burned CD's yet, need to purchase some good quality CD-R/CD-RW's first.
Some have suggested I stick w/ CD-R's, they claim they're better & that the ones made by Fuji are top quality.
Anyone have suggestions?
Its amazing how people see a 52x drive and think that it will be much faster than say a 48 or even 40 speed drives. The 52x is only reached, if at all, when it burns on the outside edge of the disk. Since cds are burned from the inside to outside u wont reach the high speeds until u fill the cd up.
Its just a marketing ploy to get people to buy newer hardware.
Agree with you about the advantage of 52x to 48x but last Sunday I went to Swapmeet and found out that the 52x is only AUD$4-5 more than the 48x so I bought one 52x for my friend as birthday present.
As for the CDR or CDRW, IMHO if you are burning Audio CD, VCD, or DivX CD you should stick to CDR because they are cheaper, burned faster, and you don't need to alter after you burnt them. I personally use CDRW only for my assignment, lab report etc. and driver and eerything else which I would upgraded/alternate after burning.
My PC has gone to hell... because it's a killing machine...
