I have a few questions about graphic cards for laptops. Please help me out!
1. I saw a toshiba laptop with geforce4go, but the ad said it only had 16mb of memory. Is that really enough? Most radeon cards seem to have at least 32mb.
2. I'm not sure I'll use this laptop for gaming purposes so I might go for a cheaper model with Mobility radeon. Anyway, to get some idea of their performance i'd like to know what the corresponding "normal" card (i.e. for deskptop) would be.
That seems odd.
I think the GeForce4Go would have 32MB of DDR-SDRAM.
If you know the model number of the notebook you should check the specs out on the Toshiba notebook website.
Maybe it's a type-o in the advertisement.
If your not sure if you will play games on the laptop then look for a Geforce 4 go or ATI 7500 mobility with 32 Megs. they don't lose that much performance compared to 64 megabyte mobile Graphics cards so they'll perform well enough for casual gaming without costing as much.
If you want to play games then u'll need more than 32MB. Toshiba use the GeForce 4 Go 420 in that notebook I believe which is 16 or 32MB. you can't upgrade the graphics cards in toshibas - but if you aren't oing to play games, then it should be perfectly adequate.
