audio skipping

I have a dell 855 computer and when i play music it plays for 5 seconds can anyone help me with cd-rom no floppy drive.

Do you have DMA enabled on your CD drive?

if you are using the default audio player, there is an option that does a 'demo' of each track, only playing the first 5 seconds or so. try turning it off.
