That's it in a nutshell... I didn't feel like arguing tonight.
I didn't even get into whether I should even be charged the $5 based on the
fact that I signed up for two years...

If you get it, Steve, you're going to have to get it by agreeing to two
years on *both* lines. Your is probably fine as is. But hers will need
to renew.

This seems to be an issue for which many SPCS reps could use some
remedial training. But why argue? Call back and try for a
better-trained rep.
Your situation is very similar to mine, as documented earlier. Not only
was the $5 charge removed from my account, but I received credit for 3
past months of incorrect charges. No arguing required; I just had to
find the right CSR.
In your case, the only catch might be that you may need to re-sign your
wife's line to a 2-year AA. (I already had a 2-year AA on my first
line.) The web site popup is not exactly clear about that requirement.
As mentioned before, you *should* be able to put her back on contract
without changing her plan. You just need to find a CSR who understands.
Good luck. :-)

She won't, and I don't blame her. Sarah loves her Sprint service and her phone.
But why get locked in if you don't have to?
All I know is that she typically uses at least 300 PCS to PCS minutes each
month, and I use at least another ~150, so we are getting our money's worth for
the $10 per month we pay for those minutes. Probably not worth arguing about,
but maybe next time I call I'll bring it up again and see what happens.

I absolutely understand. And it *is* your/her choice. I'm paying
$5/month for it myself, since my account is single-line anyway.
