Display doesn't resume after standby

Hello!

I have a Compaq Presario 1694 notebook, with a fresh install of Windows XP Professional.

The notebook is using the default XP drivers.

The problem is, when the computer comes out of standby, it reactivates, but the display does not turn on. The computer mouse and keyboard still work, and it can be accessed on the network.

How can I fix this?

Thanks!

Have you checked Windows Update for this specific problem? If not, I'd suggest you do so.

Hello!

I did try looking at Windows Update. There was a standby patch, but it didn't help.

I have also tried to use ATI's Win2000 drivers instead of MS's, but it has the same problem.

You might want to try searching for a solution in the Microsoft Help and Support page.

You might also want to check Compaq's website for software/BIOS updates.

Compaq does not have any update.

Maybe I'm using the wrong monitor driver? I have tried both "Default Monitor" and "Plug and Play Monitor"

Plug n Play should work... I do know that Compaqs especially have a problem with 'waking up' when there is no monitor defined. (Default or Unknown Monitor). In most cases the standard PnP driver should work, but in this case you might need one specifically for that monitor.

What driver should I try? The notebook uses an ATI Rage LT PRO chip with a 14.1" Samsung TFT.
