i installed an aureal 8810 into my buddies computer running xp, and the drivers begin to install the Vortex Multifunction PCI Parent but at the end it says "an error occured installing this device data is invalid". anyone know how to get this working?

XP drivers are built in and should have worked. Since I haven't seen an XP driver problem for any Aureal card, I'm going to assume the problem is with your particular configuration, and based on that assumption, recommend the XP forum.

i checked the ms site and there was an article suggesting i rename the driver.cab in the windows\driver cache\i386 folder, then paste the one from the xp cd and try again. i'll give it a shot tomorrow.

ok crashman... i got the thing installed. but only the pink jack works!!! have you come across that? he has klipsh promedia 4.1 speakers and can only hear 2. ive tried the front in the pink jack and they work in it so its not the speakers etc... i took the one that worked and tried it in the other inputs and i get nothing. windows is set for quad speakers.

have you been to <A HREF="http://www.vortexofsound.com" target="_new">http://www.vortexofsound.com</A>?

They have lots of information there, very useful site for Aureal Vortex owners.

Water cooling is for the weak. Get liquid nitrogen.
