Is there any way to add plus signs when using a phone that supports
Sprint SMS (Sanyo 4920 in my case) to send international SMS? Any way
to store those in the phone book (even thou they can't be call if
they're not US / Canada)?

It is not the absence of the plus symbol that stops international SMS's.
Sprint doesn't have the agreements in place and has not created the
necessary "glue" to connect their SMSs to the GSM network. You cannot send
SMS's from your Sprint web account. I
You can dial international numbers with a Sprint phone. You have to call
customer service and activate international dialing. Then dial the number
with an "011" in front, e.g. 011442075551212.

Not true. *If* the international SMS works, there is neither a need to
email nor a need for the plus sign.
So far, though, as of the time I ceased working there, not a single
European nation was listed as confirmed successful.

Could you tell if there was an effort to make this a future thing? I
wonder if the previous lack of much international roaming agreements
like US GSM carriers have, was the reason for the minimal
international SMS sending support. Or perhaps they don't think there's
much of a market for Sprint's CDMA users since the users who are more
international are probably using GSM? These are some generalizations,
but I have a few friends who are international and SMS would be nice.

The note included a reference to future testing. Europe is
pretty heavily standardized (which is not saying that's a
bad thing), so it's probably going to be all or nothing
there. This appeared to be one of those "as we get to it"
kind of projects. Unsupported. Might find a way to make
it work, but it will either work or not, and that's it.

Actually according to this web page, these countries are supported. However,
I tried the Venezuelan ones and no luck. I called and the woman that i
talked to was shocked to see that this info was on the web site. So bottom
line, they say it is officially supported but it doesn;t work.
