Any comments on this hardware/software signal processing? I am thinking of
getting it for a PC-based DAW with Sonar.

The hardware is fine, but the plug-in licenses that come with the Studio Pack
aren't the ones you'll probably want.

If your signal processing is limited to software (plug-ins), you'd probably
find some of the UAD-1 powered plug-ins indispensable.

Are you sure you're not referring to The Project Pack, the entry-level
package?

Right you are. The Studio Pack does include the LA2A and 1176LN. UA needs to
come up with better names so I don't get confused...

It gets worse. They've announced the third package, the largest so far. They
named it Ultra Pak.

Thanks everyone for replying to my question about the UAD-1.

I realize the load is taken off the CPU by powering signal processors with
their own DSP, but doesn't this simply tax the PCI bus? After all "God
giveth and God taketh away", or some kind of logic like that.

Since my audio card (Motu 2408 mkIII) is on the
PCI bus, I thought there may be an issue here.

Best,
Jerry Gerber
