The just want to keep pushing people to new handsets even though my A600 is
less than a year old. :-)

No phone that accesses Shortmail will *ever* be upgraded to use SMS.
Period. End of Story.

As of the time I ceased working there, SPCS not only wasn't planning to
do anything like what you hope, they weren't even letting people look
into it.
