Has anybody ever heard of a plate reverb unit made out of wood? Seems that
with all the science surrounding the acoustic properties and tuning of
wooden plates used as instrument soundboards, you might be able to get a
cool sound with a wooden plate reverb.....anyhow, just a crazy thought.

Not sure about reverbs, but one of the best sounding kick drums I have heard was
the wooden gobo I built for isolating the kick. Go figure.

I'm not saying that it couldn't work, but neither can I imaging a piece of
wood vibrating for 5 seconds..

Trouble with wood is that it does not have consistant characteristics from
piece to piece. Also you can't really slice it into a thin membrane and
tension it out really tight.
