How can file size be reduced?

A short, humorous poem has been recorded (mono mp3) for purposes of
demonstration. It comes in at 345kb. (www.smitten.com/goops.mp3)
What is the best way for members of our poetry group to distribute
similar sized audio material? Email would be necessary for some since
cutting and pasting from html might be beyond the capabilities of many
of the users.

OK, I just used Audition to convert it to a mono MP3 with a 16k
sampling rate, and with no loss of quality the file has dropped to
86k. That should be easily mailable. I'm sure that playing with
parameters will allow it to go a lot lower still.
