Samsung VI660 questions

I just got the Samsung VI-660 (aka A660), and I'm trying to figure out how
to turn on the backlight when the screen is lit. I know how to set the
backlight duration, and I know that when the screen goes completely blank,
I can hit any key to turn it back on, but what I can't figure out is how to
turn on the backlight when the screen is already lit without hitting a key
that does something. Anybody know how to do that?

Also, when I look at my call history, the manual says that I'm supposed to
see the time, date, and duration of each call, but I see only the time and
date. The duration is missing. Any idea why?

Thanks,

Scott

Scott -

After reading your message a few times, I finally decided you're asking
about the *keypad* backlight, as opposed to the internal screen
backlight. The best I can offer is to push a side key (volume) instead
of a keypad key. It will turn on the keypad backlight but have less of
a bad effect on what you're doing with the call.

And if you set both screen and keypad to the same (e.g. 30 sec) won't
they both go out, and come on, at the same time?

The Samsung A460, A620, and A680 don't show call duration in the history
list, so I suspect the A660's manual is mistaken.

Use one of the side keys, like Frank said, or:

Settings > Display > Backlight > Keypad (the "Flip Open" setting will do it)

Note that turning Settings > Display > Power Save Mode ON will override the
display and keypad lighting options. I'm going to turn Power Save off today and
see how quickly the battery drains.

No. Doesn't show it on my 660 either.

In checking my Sanyo 5300 phone logs, no duration of the incoming or
outgoing calls are shown. Just the date and time the call was either
received or made.

My assumption is "typographical error in the manual" - perhaps the 660 with
pristine Samsung firmware does show the duration but does not when loaded with
Sprint's firmware, for whatever reason.
