I have a recording problem, I'm recording with a firepod into adobe audition
1.5.. everything was working fine for a week up until yesterday when every now
about half the time when i record something it ends up all being out of sync..
i record 8 tracks, 1 guitar, 2 bass, 3 overhead, 4 overhead, 5 bass, 6 snare,
7 rack tom, 8 floor tom. when everything gets messed up, tracks 1,2,7,8 play
fine together and tracks 3,4,5,6 play fine together but put them together
and its a mess. the computer is a 2.2 ghz athlon with 512 megs of dual channel
400mhz ram. any ideas? i'm going to install cubase le tonight and see if that
changes anything.. sometimes we'll record something and it'll be fine for five
minutes and then it'll go out of sync just for the last minute, sometimes
nothing goes out of sync, sometimes its out of sync from the beginning..
i don't get it, it just seems purely random. any ideas?

That is freakin' weird... that is, if you mean the recorded tracks drift out
of sync on playback. Are you certain it isn't a latency problem with regard
to monitoring? Maybe you're hearing existing tracks playing back at a
different degree of latency than any new tracks you're recording, and so
when you play it back with the new track, that one's now out of sync?
