Belkin f5d7632 4 wireless router setup

Hello,
I have belkin f5d7632-4 router, it works ok wirelessley with my smartphone when it is 'open' but setting a passphrase on the router stops access from the phone even with the correct passphrase, other devices act the same as though it is the wrong passphrase any help would be apprieciated

Routers generally have three types of wireless encryption:

WEP
WPA
WPA2

If router is set to WPA2, some of your devices may not be WPA2-compatible and will therefore be unable to get past the encryption.

Try setting the router's encryption to WPA, or even WEP, although the latter is the easiest type of encryption for freeloaders to circumvent.
