On that CD that comes with the Logitech MX-500 are there drivers for the moouse? I dont need the extra buttons in windows, just wondering if installing drivers would increase performance (if there are any drivers). Thanks.

I have the MX700 and I uninstalled the software almost immediately...the funny thing is, the mouse works better just using the generic Microsoft drivers. While I was using the Logitech drivers and software, the mouse wheel kept acting up on me...especially in games. After I uninstalled it, the mouse wheel started working right and the mouse was more responsive (less laggy)...although I could be imagining the latter.

Logitech driver sucks. I switch back to Microsoft because of that.

Thanks guys. This mouse owns, for those of you who dont have one, so go spend $30 and get an MX-300!

I found a good deal on a mx500 for $36 for my first optical mouse:). I agree with the logitech drivers being bad~.
The scroll wheel was way too slow and laggy, even with faster scroll lines. I do have a question though. I noticed the mouse light stays on even when computer is off. Is there anyways to turn it off without pulling out the mouse everytime?

nope, because the USB port its plugged into powers any devices plugged in, ie the mouse's LED
lights

yes and no... technically it SHOULD power off when the computer shuts down. The red light on my explorer 3 optical does... but bios bugs and conflicts and other dumb things often make the light stay on.

butits nothing bad. the led only consumes very low amounts of power, and last for years.
