USB splitter????

Forum CPU & Components : Other Components USB splitter????

I have a new asus p4pe motherboard and an Atech flash Pro III 7 in 1 card reader. My new case has usb ports on the front. Since the internal card reader plugs into the usb header I cannot utilize the ports on my case. Is there some type of splitter or adapter that would allow me to use my front ports and my card reader (I know usb can be split over a hundred times)? Thanks

I've got one of those lttle hubs that turns one USB slot into four, no power supply needed. Works well. Is that what ur talking about? I found it for $10 online.

A word of caution everyone. It is a bad idea to use a usb hub as a power source it has a habit of destroying the hub. There are many incidents of people using their motherboards usb port to plug ina device cradle and the motherboard dying.

Only the other week a usb hub in the office which had been used to supply power to a device as well as a data signal died.

The safest bet is only to use usb connectors for data and not as a power source.

Doesn't your board support a 4-port output plate? Ditch the plat, run two ports to your case and one to your card reader.
