I've been searching on boards and review sites for a good HSF.
Now, according to the review sites, with a nice HSF installed
the CPU temp at full load will never go above 50. But for me
it sounds like a dream. I used to own a volcano 7+ and had the
fan speed set as low. the temp at full load is about 55-58 C
so after reading the reviews (including THG), I got myself
a vantec aero flow which suppose to be powerful (TMD fan)
and quiet (for me its way louder than volcano7+ at low speed)
but the CPU temp was 53C at full load, while while the
case temp around 42C, and room temp about 24C. Did I installed
the HSF wrong? (all temps are by mesured by MOBO heat sensor)
note: i did use antec silver, and yes i did pull off the blue sticker

i bet your temps are wrong. with case fans working, 43c case temp is HOT.

my computer is so fast, it completes an endless loop in less than 4 seconds!

A good range of temperatures are here :
http://www6.tomshardware.com/cpu/2 [...] r5-39.html

where tom reviews a good range of HSFs. Within that review tom suggests that maximum permissable die temp for an AMD is between 85-90 degrees celsius. So I dont think around 50 degrees is quite crisis point.

Several of the HSFs in toms review designed for low noise allow the CPU to run at about 50 degrees.

if you were so worried about temps why did you have the volcano on low speed

To jihiggs:
ooooops...you're right...the case temp wasn't so high.....
remembered it wrong...It's actually about 36C

To gebbly:
I didnt check that review out, my purchase on vantec aero flow
was mostly based on that review

To pIII_man:
my worry is not about the temp. mostly is that according to
my reading, the ventec aero flow should be much more effecent
and quiet than what I'm experiancing right now. If other people
think I installed it wrong. I'll re-install the HSF and get
a fan speed control front pannal. I'm actually focusing on the
noise level.

once again....thanks for all the input
