My Visa and Master Card accounts have the same thing. It creates an
account number that you can set the limit on to the amount of a single
purchase and set the expiration date to the next month. That way,
it'll be good for your purchase and no good if an unscrupulous
merchant tries to use it for something else.
It doesn't disguise you, though. If you're buying porn, somebody will
know it, and when the place is raided, your identity (without a valid
credit card number) can be found.
