compressors, and Fletchers favorite for guitars & snare is an Ashly SC
50, preferrably the original blue face model with toggle switch. This
thing sounds great and smokes the later black face models. Check it out
here on ebay.

Seeing as I'm an inadvertant endorser... can I get a discount?
Let me set a couple things straight... I almost *never* compress snare,
and while it's a favorite for "lead guitar" we're talking like loud,
sustained note solos... not rythm gtrs by any stretch of the
imagination.
As for the diatribe on eBay... it really has absolutely nothing to do
with an 1176 in any manner, shape, nor form.
That said... if you wanna sell it for $75-... give me a shout
