Reach further than what, Jenna? The coverage area of a router is generally
limited by the environment in which it resides. That is, construction
materials in your home may play a great deal in success or failure of your
wireless connection.

It can also be location of the base station itself, so you can try to move
it away from walls and other electrical appliances it may be near. Try also
changing the channel from the default 6 to 11 or 1.

If you're looking to expand the wireless coverage over a very large area,
you may want to look into a pure Access Point which can wirelessly accept
and distribute your existing signal. Microsoft does not make one of those
products.

Jenna,

I think you mean you want to extend the wireless range of
your router?

Think about the position of your router. Is it next to a
wall, your PC or monitor, or other electronics? All
these can block or interefere with the router. The more
central the router is in the area you want to cover, the
better. Place it high up on a bookshelf.

Do you want to access the router from outside? Then put
it close to the window where you will be using it outside
(not recommended if you're worried about wireless
security, though - other people getting on your network).

Otherwise, you will have to buy additional hardware, like
a wireless bridge(repeater) or run an ehternet cable to
another wirelss router from the one you have.

Hope this helps?
