So to make a long frustrating story short my motherboard broke and was sent in under warrenty, to a company which will remain unnamed. It was a dual Intel mobo w/ onboard Ultra Wide SCSI 160. This company no longer has onboard SCSI mobo's at all, and has offered only a PCI SCSI card? Does this sound fair to you? Will a PCI SCSI card actually perform as well as on-board SCSI?

On a side note, this company currently makes a dual Intel system, however they have not offered to upgrade my system to the newer dual Intel System. They've only offered a single proccessor Intel or Dual AMD's. Not quite the same thing. Does that sound fair?

Well... it depends on the controller... but in general, they'll perform the same. On board SCSI uses the PCI bus just as a PCI card would.

Find out who made the scsi chipset on the original board. Make sure the replacement PCI card is made by a manufacturer that's atleast as good as the onboard manufacturer. Best case, try to get them to give you an Adaptec card.
