SATA Newbie question

This may sound like a really dumb question (and probably is!) but, I've just ordered components for a new system, which includes a Gigabyte SINXP1394 m/b and a single 80Gb sata hdd (all I could afford!). I've downloaded the m/b manual from the gigabyte site, but I can't find any mention of how to set the SATA hdd as the boot drive. Am I missing something here? You CAN boot from a SATA drive, right? (Told you it was a dumb question)...

Yes... go into the bios once you set it up... and chage your bood priority from IDE which will be the default to SATA. If a primary sata connector is indicated on the board make sure you use it to plug your drive into...

To err is human... to really screw things up you need a computer!

ok i have a Giga byte MOBO too.

in the bios the first thing at the top of the menu is boot from SCSI, RAID, SATA these will be an option before boot from floppy etc... so in here you just select SATA i presume.

i don't have a SATA drive yet so i don't know.
