I have an i500 phone which I like a lot. However, where I live the
reception is very bad.
Wanted to know if anyone has used any of the non-connection external
antennas on the market and how they work.
Also, does anyone know what the covered port next to the stub antenna.
I removed the little plastic cover and it looks like an external antenna
port. I called Samsung and one person told me it was a test port, and
another person said it was an extra power port ???? There's no
description in the manual , and I can't find anything on the internet.

....you might do a search on ebay for "external samsung antenna"
there are a couple of solutions that appear to be what you (and I) are
looking for. I did not yet message either of the guys to see if the
connector would fit the i500. I did notice that the connector on the i500 is
exactly the same as on the a500--probably a standard connector.
