In a well-designed circuit, good small signal tubes last for decades
of continuous operation. Power tubes don't last anywhere near as long,
but in a typical tube preamp without a high power 600 ohm output stage,
thirty or forty years should be fine. Won't hurt to do an emission test
every once in a while to make sure.

As soon as performance goes bad. Probably every 30 years or so?
