I normally buy Switchcraft 290 (I think) three-conductor shielded phone
plugs, but I have not had to buy any for a while. A quick search reveals
that low quantities are $6 and up. The Neutriks are much less expensive.
Are they any good? I'm thinking the N3X is the direct replacement, but
I'm not really familiar with Neutrik's part numbers.
http://www.zzounds.com seems to have good pricing, although I have never
purchased from them.

Yes. I prefer the Neutrik's.

Thanks for the info. Now I'm even more curious. Look at
http://www.zzounds.com/item--NTK228. I cannot find a model 228 on the
Neutrik web site. This one looks like an EXACT match for the Switchcraft
290.

The Neutriks are lighter but they seem to hold up in spite of the pot
metal covers. But you can get the Switchcrafts for MUCH less than that
if you buy a bag of ten or more at Markertek (which also carries the
Neutriks).
