Do a search on rec.audio.pro and you'll see, one of the best
compressors, and one of Fletchers favorite for lead guitars is an Ashly
SC 50, preferrably the original blue face model with toggle switch.
This
thing sounds great and smokes the later black face models. Check it out
here on ebay.

You must be in a real hurt to make some money off of this sale.
I can't believe that you've already gotten as high a bid as you do.
Why don't you pictures show the rack ears?

The rack ears were cropped off in the pic by my camera, but they are
included for sure. Yes, in a hurt for sure, otherwise I would'nt be
selling it....not sure why your surprised on the bid price, considering
ART comps & Alesis 3630's go for the same price and sound truly
horrible next to this.....I've seen the original blue face models go
for around $200, which considering the tone is a great deal....at $100,
it's a steal.....especially since your such a fan of the CL52E (and
were willing to pay $250 for), which this thing smokes!!

Yes, they do sound truly horrible next to some Ashlys... but for that price
they're dual channels and new in the box with a warranty... some people
value that more than the potential problems from used gear.

I've not heard one. I just think it's a little cheesy to be quoting Fletcher
as a sales tool.

Or me for that matter. By the way, I didn't end up paying that much.
I have less than $500 in three stereo units (that's 6 mono channels) of CL-52e.
Paying almost that much for my first one, some years ago under half of retail,
was done before I learned how to better shop for used gear.

I'll just have to trust you on that one. I find some compressors with damned
fine reputations and high-end names that I would pass over in favor of the
CL-52e because I know how it acts and what it sounds like now on a variety
of sources
I think you did well getting $150.00 for your unit on e-Bay. Congrats.... That's
a good price for a single channel. I've seen the black faces go for around $65
pretty regularly... some in pristine shape.
