i have 2 sprint vision phones (8100's on a family plan) which are pretty
much broken and need replacing. my contract just passed 18 months. i've
been with sprint since day 1 (7 years?).

i believe the sanyo 7400 will be something like $270-$150 rebate = $120 @
costco. I don't know what they'll be at the sprintpcs stores.

i guess i need to call customer service, to get all the specifics as to what
if anything they'll do for me with regard to coming up with a price for 2
new 7400's, but before i do that, are there any
advantages/issues/disadvantages to buying the phones at costco? do i lose
anything by not going thru a sprintpcs store? i guess if i get the phones
(discounted) at a sprintstore, i'll be required to sign a new 2 year
contract and that's fine, but if i buy thru costco, is there any rebate i
would have lost out on given i'm not getting a new phone thru sprint?

thanks for any help.

I just got a 7400 at a Sprint store today, and paid 229.99 with the $150
instant discount. If you can get it for $120, then that's a lot better
deal. I called *2 beforehand to make arrangements for a new plan, and
they had notated my file for the instant discount. Otherwise, it would have
been a regular rebate, with the 6-week wait. BTW, at the store I tried to
negotiate a better deal, but the things that the retention CSR had noted on
my file didn't even come up as options on the store computer. He punched in
the codes from my notes and was able to get the items I had wanted to retain
on my new plan, one of which is the First-Incoming-Minute-Free; an option
that isn't commonly available on new plans.
