I just built my first pc and only thing holding me back now is my connection

Im not in range of my router so i use two of these ethernet adapters http://www.amazon.com/Asoka-PlugLink-Ethernet-Adapter/dp/B0014UZCQM and currently only get download speeds of about 7 Mbps

The computer that is connected directly to the router gets about 20 Mbps.

i was wondering if this usb adapter (or recommend one in this price range) would be better than what i am using and if it will drop connection because i do game. would it increase my download speeds by much, or not enough to notice a difference. i don't think i can get a pci card because my graphics card blocks the pci slot.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=33-156-321 is it worth it

any info will be helpful

thanks

No one can say w/ absolute certainty whether any wireless adapter will prove better than your current powerline adapters. After all, we don't know anything about your current environment. And wireless is always subject to issues of interference, distance, etc. That said, it's hard to believe that you couldn’t achieve significantly better results than 7Mbps w/ wireless even under the worst of circumstances.

Personally I would stay away from USB (or PCI) wireless adapters and instead opt for a wireless ethernet bridge.

A decent one can be had for as little as $20. Some are incredibly small these days as well...

A wired connection is ALWAYS better, of course. But for most ppl that's not a practical solution. But if you're the exception to that rule, sure, run an ethernet cable. Or perhaps upgrade your powerline solution to either the 500Mbps or 1Gbps technologies.
