Hello All! I was hoping to obtain some expert advice on configuring my pc. I just added a Sony DRU500ax to the mix, and I've got myself wondering if the configuration I'm now using is the best for optimal performance. Here's my current configuration:

Mobo- Gigabyte GAV-7AXP with Raid disabled and ATA133 enabled
Primary IDE Master- Maxtor 40g
Primary IDE Slave- LiteOn 166s DVD Rom
Secondary Master- Sony DRU500AX
Secondary Slave- Liteon 52x24x52

Raid/ATA Controller(IDE #3) - Ibm 60g
Raid/ATA Controller(Ide #4) - Empty

I was using the dvd rom drive on the ata133 controller(IDE#4), but was experiencing some hangs while ripping dvd's using dvd decrpytor, so I put it to primary slave and haven't had any reoccurences yet, and no noticeable performance decline from my primary hard drive. Any Thoughts would be appreciated! Thanks in Advance... Joe

3 opticals huh?
You could do what ive done, and put the HDD's all on the RAID channels:
E.G.
Prim master: Optical 1
prim slave: Optical 2
sec master: Optical 3
Sec slave: Optical 4
IDE 3 master: HDD 1
IDE 4 Master: HDD 2.

Ive personally only got 2 opticals, so it works out nicely that each drive is a master by itself on its own channel.

If you want to install windows onto a HDD on the raid channel you will need the basic 3rd party drivers first, but if you just move the drive over there shouldnt be too many problems.
