I am planning to have RAID 0 on my two Barracuda V drives. I am going to use Win XP as an OS.

What cluster size and other settings should I use for maximum performance. If you are going to write "it depends", don't bother :-)

Thanks for your help!

If you plan on archiving large data files, use bigger block sizes (256). If you plan on using it for storing small files, go with 16 or 32. Apart from that, I use 64 for all around use.

I only want to "achieve" large files, such as mp3's and movies. However my OS probalby wants to achieve some small files.

So if anyone else doesn't have anything to say about it I will go for the recommended 64.

Besides cluster size there are other preferences one can make. What should they be leveled to?

Thanks, but I already did. It didn't give any guidence. For a rookie as me it's not very pedagogical to say "it depends".

I use my computer for work with trading application mainly. I have no clue what to optimal cluster and strip size is.

Really? What system do you use?

I work for a Trading System vendor. What sort of trading do you do?

I am using lots of different software systems. But the most demanding system for my computer is the "Tradestation 7" application.

Excellent. If you're ever in the market for a new front end application or even additional access to points of liquidity or execution/clearing services, look us up.

I heard that the best order execution software for traders is the J-trader. It seems that your type of software is more aimed at traders for funds or big institutions.

(I was doubting to use the word "pedagogical" since I know that it isn't used as commonly in the Americas as in Sweden)
