Hi all, I was curious to know if anyone has been able to use any of these 99+ min 870mb cdr's at all. If so, what manufacturer of the cdr/w was it used on? I just got 150 of them for .19/ea, but yet to recieve them.

I have a TEAC CDR-W516EB Not sure if it will actually be able to use the full capacity of these or not....does anyone know?

Any information would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks,

Gem

I used 99 min CD-R's to burn VCD. Burned 89 minutes in them, there was no need of burning more, so don't tried full 99 min burning.

I used LiteOn LTR-40125S CD-RW and Melody 99 min. CD-R

Ok, I just tried recording an 813mb file with the 99 min CD-R's, but my TEAC CD-W516EB states that there isn't enough disk space??? Should I do a firmware update? If so, should I even attempt it? I can't seem to find the version of firmware on this TEAC! I guess that's something they didn't teach us in school.
This is a supported CDRW, per INSITE Technologies. GGrrr.
Should I just buy a new LiteOn CDRW? Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated. I am very frustrated at this point.

Ok, I updated the firmware on the TEAC CD-W516EB and didn't change anything. It still only reads the disc's as 703mb's.
I've tried Nero 5.5.9.14 and EZcd creator platinum 5.3.4.21, still only reads the 99min cd-r's as 703mb's.

I'm out of idea's here, anyone have any tricks I could use or should I just upgrade to a LiteOn?

Every CD burner can't recognize discs more than 80 min. They show 90/99 min CD-R's as 80 min. You have to overburn to write more than 80 min.

This THG article should help to do overburning. Follow the steps described in this article.

Make sure you've got Nero 5.5 or better.

Thanks spitfire, I have had a few other tech buds over and they it won't read anything above 703mb's. I guess I'm out of luck on this cdrw to do what I wish.
Anyone try a CenDyne Lightning V 52/24/52 CD-RW?

Trying to get there, but seems to be no shortcut!

CenDyne Lightning V 52/24/52 is a rebadged LiteOn most times, but CenDyne also ships other CD-RW's.

If it's a LiteOn, it should be good

Ok, just got the BRAND NEW - CenDyne LIGHTNING 52x24x52 CD-RW, off E-bay for $42.09. It is LiteOn LTR-52246S based, I hope I made the right decision. I did alot of research on it.
I was hoping that someone else out there has one and could give me some feedback on it. With the LiteOn base, I don't think I could do wrong, as you stated.

Thanks for the info. 4 components down, 5 to go for my new system :)

Thanks again spitfire.

Ok, I just got in the Cendyne 52x24x52 cdrw. Ends up that it's NOT a Liteon base, it's an Asus crw-5224a! Does anyone have one of these? I did alittle research today on them and still not sure on the results. My question, is basically, should I just pawn this off to one of my buds and get the LiteOn or keep it?
I would appreciate any input.

Thanks,

This drive is a good performer (dnon't know how good for overburning), but all ASUS drives are real b@$t@rd for noise and heat

Got a Headache now, like whats being asked. What I need to do is actually backup files onto CD, they roughley about 850Mb & I got 900Mb CDs. Like noted, Nero only see's it as a 703Mb CD. Is there anything I can do so that I can backup my 850Mb file onto these 900Mb CDs. How do I overwrite the settings in the latest version of Nero? I can do it Audio, but not Data Backup. Help, going more and more Grey by the second,

Funk

With Nero Express to use over burning and burn cds greater then 80 mins you have to enable it first. Click on the "more" menu at the bottom options bar of the program then click on the configure menu. In the configuration menu go to expert features and click the "Enable overburn" check box. You are then able to specify the maximum cd length you wish to permit.

There is no right and wrong. There's only fun and boring.
