I heard that some API units use the same card edge connector as the
old Allison Research KEPEX/ Gain Brains, and with a swap of the pinouts
can be made to work in the same frame.
Is the person telling me this wrong, or thinking of something else,
like the "Valley People lunch box"
I had a nice thought of loading up the rest of my card rack with some
pre-amps ( after some sort of cash winfall that should happen soon )
Does anyone know about this, has anyone done this?

The API's will fit in an Aphex rack, not an Allison Research.

Do a search for Aphex-9000 and dbx-900. Those were the (3 rack units
high) modular rack systems that were not only compatible with each
other but I believe could also work with some other brands of modular
cards, like API, as well. But the older Allison Research stuff, which
included the original "Gain Brain" was in a taller rack (4 RU?) and is
not compatible with the "Gain Brain II" and other Valley "800" series
modules that came later in a 3 RU chassis. I've tried to find out if
the Valley 800 modules are also compatible with the dbx and Aphex
frames but I still do not know.
