(stupid question I know, but I just want to be sure...)

If I buy a USB 2.0 ext CD-RWdrive, will it be backwards compatable with any USB 1.1 computers I use it on ?

I realise the obvious speed difference from USB2 going back to USB 1.1.

Thanks Tim....

Most USB2.0 devices are backward compatible and in case of CDRW you can only running a USB2.0 at 4x2x on USB1.1.

You never know how stupid you are until you have done something stupid enough for you to realize it.

Yep. they are backwards compatible... but i would prefer to shoot myself first before using a HDD on USB1.1 LOL.

USB2.0 cards are pretty cheap, and availalbe for laptops too.
