I am planning to get the MSI K7N2-L motherboard. My question is that should I put 1 512MB of 333MHz RAM or 2 256MB of 333MHz? and Why

Two is better than one. Go check out the Gigabyte KT400A mobo review and you'll know. The superior one is nForce2 in dual channel DDR, nForce2 in single channel DDR had been beaten by KT400A. Doesn't the Twinbank technology one of the reasons you buy nForce2 mobo?

You never know how stupid you are until you have done something stupid enough for you to realize it.

if the mem controller is dualbank (ie nforce2) then 2 pieces will do, if it is single (KTxxx) then one or two pieces will make little or no difference...

Hmmm, wonder if I can get a valid page fault ???
these invalid ones are far too commonplace...

That's not entirely true... typically one large dimm has slower timings and is harder to overclock than a smaller dimm with standard oem ram. In such a case I would go with 2 sticks over one...

To err is human... to really screw things up you need a computer!
